We were supposed to reach the school by 7:30 in the morning and we had to catch the school bus which will be taking us to a two day trip. I was totally not excited unlike any one of my age. I never liked such things where a crowd will gather. I had been a so private person after my mom left me. I was a creepy guy who always got himself busy in studies. But, I had a no choice. And I had to get up on time, get prepared and take my back pack for school, leaving my Dad alone for almost 48 hours.
Anyway, I did reach the school and we were soon directed towards the bus to climb in. Though, I was a front bench-er in class, I preferred to be a back bench-er, I mean to sit on the last row for the first time in my life. But then, many a thing happens for the first time in life. In no time, the bus was running towards the destination.
"Hello Rohan, all okay ?" asked the most rude teacher who just had taken a seat beside me. He was assigned the caretaker of our bus I guess.
"Yes sir. Thanks" I answered as usual, in a cool calm manner. I was a kind of student everyone liked until that day. I was the favorite of my teachers. But it was just the matter of few hours and everyone started kind of hating me, at least as I felt.
"Hey kids, why are you all so calm. It's not the class. You are going for a picnic! So enjoy. And yes, don't worry about me. I won't say anything." The teacher beside me addressed the whole bus. But as everyone knew Ramesh sir very well, no one moved. As if they never heard what sir said. Or, if they heard, they were taking their time to believe it. After few minutes, Sir again said it, this time trying to be on a lighter note. And this time, few heads turned. And then started the shouts, the fun and the trip. I was least bothered by any of the stuff happening inside the bus. Instead, I kept staring outside the window and feeling the wind on my face. If I had a mobile phone then, I am sure I would have been preferred to listen Mohammad Rafi and Kishor kumar.
But I didn't any kind of such device back then and I was force to hear what was happening inside the bus. The kids were shouting the song of kumar sanu and sonu nigam. If by anyhow, these singers would have been there in the bus, they must have had a heart attack after hearing the murdered version of their own songs. But our so called classmates were totally unaware of these things and were busy playing the game called 'Antakshari'. And the funniest part was, so called scary Ramesh sir was also singing in his braying voice.
"Rohan will sing this time. Hey Rohan..." I heard Mr. Ramesh saha shouting my name. I turned my head and looked at him. He said me to sing and I couldn't. I had no idea about singing. I loved every kind of music and respected this form of art from the bottom of my heart so I couldn't be murderous like them for such beautiful songs. I rather preferred to be the person to be laughed at for not being able to sing. I didn't care and shrugged it away. And everyone else was again busy in their so important work. The Antakshary. And I got back to my work. Looking out of the window for no reason.
"Hi Rohan." I heard my name again. It was a female voice. I turned and saw Rimi beside me.
"Hey.. Hi...You okay?" I responded in a soft tone. Though she was beautiful but it didn't had any effect on me. I was too studious to look at these little things.
"I wanted to talk to you." She tried again to hit a conversation after a few minutes.
" Yes, tell me. I am up with my ears"
"Actually I am here to inform you that Rahul and his friends are planning something bad against you. So better you take care." she said. I got confused a little and a 'why' escaped my mouth. But she was no way near me. I saw Rahul looking at me. Rimi must be scared and vanished from my side, I thought.
Next part of the journey not so good as the answer of 'why' was still not there. I tried and failed. I stopped thinking and started looking outside again.
There was few sequences if events waiting for me on the picnic spot and I was still unaware of it.
Story continues........
